While I was thinking of something to write about, I got to thinking about all the comings and goings of 2009 (More going out of H!P than coming into H!P) and how these events might affect H!P.
I decided to look take a look into the future (I'm a part-time psychic) I will now report my findings to you. So here they are, my predictions.
Morning Musume
- Koha graduates and MM leaves the spot empty for about 2-5 months
- MM holds an audition for the first time in years adding 2-4 new members (at least 2 of them from the Kanto region)
- The chances of Ai or Risa graduating rise, Reina is tapped to fill the sub leader position if either of them graduate
- There will be at least 3 tabloid stories claiming things from public drunkeness to boyfriends; those claims are never confirmed
C-ute
- Record sales will go up slightly
- C-ute will head to Hawaii again to do a Alo-Hello! PB and DVD; sales of the PB will be high
- Saki or Mai will have more presence in songs
- Devoted fans will follow Erika's modelling career
Berryz Koubou
- Captain will finally release a photobook, making her the last Berryz member to release a PB
- Risako will release 1 or 2 PBs; stores will quickly sell out
- There will be a tabloid story about Miyabi, Maasa, or Risako; blurry pics will be published
- No one will graduate
There you go! All that predicting made me a bit tired...
Here in Oklahoma, it's not yet 2009 so that means I can do a wrapup of H!P events in 2008.
C-ute releases - 1 album, 4 singles (LALALA...what do I say next?)
Berryz releases - 1 album, 3 singles (Uh ha! Let's do this for the next 10 months!)
MM releases - 1 album, 2 singles
Graduations (along with a reenactment)
Mutou Mika - to continue studies ('Kay)
Mika: I've decided to graduate
Management: ...To become a solo artist? Because you know you're not as popular as Mano. It wouldn't work right now.
Mika: No no no. I wanna go back to school and be a normal person
Management: ...Really? Ok see you later then. GTFO
Kimura (Nagate) Ayaka - to become an actress (or get married, whatever)
Events
Haromoni@ ends - This show starting to sink after January and never recovered. Then it ended in September.
Berrikyu starts and ends - A awesome show but in the end, it died with Haromoni@. Just terrible...
Yorosen starts - It's actually doing decent so far. Let's see how it does in '09
That's it. Now let's get ready for 2009!!
Happy Holidays, my fellow wota! I'm sure you have seen this MM 60s Christmas special but I have to post it anyway.
And I guess I'll do a news roundup while I'm here.
Berryz Koubou's artist picture has been updated and their 1st Best of album, Berryz Koubou Special Best Vol.1, (I guess they've had enough singles to get a best of album also...clever album name) comes out on January 14th, 2009. These are nice outfits. They look like 60s-ish high class ladies.
Ice Cream Musume aka the winners of the H!P New Star Contest that happened in Taiwan a few months ago, opened their new blog recently. The girls haven't even debuted yet and yours truly already has a favorite.
Peipei (aka Ceng de Ping)!! She's cool looking and it was awesome that she dance to a Frank Sinatra song at her final audition instead of singing (In front of Tsunku, that takes guts...I mean huge guts) Anyway ICM debut in January with a mini-album release in Taiwan and Japan. I wonder how they'll interact with the two resident Pandas...Anyway I guess I should introduce the others.
Youko (Fans call her Light Bulb...I forgot why)
Guu-chan (Who I'll just call Guu)
Reirei (Call her Rei)
Anchii (Let's call her An or Chii)
Shenshen (Just Shen please)
Now that I have officially introduced them to you and changed their nicknames to my liking, I can grow to love them. Let's watch them grow into an established group.
Happy Holidays guys.
Here's more C-ute fanart I picked up from my internet travels. No pervy pics here...although that doesn't mean I haven't seen any lol
The Mai/Erika alliance is stronger than ever it seems
I think most of you have already seen this very well done drawing of an actual Berryz/C-ute photo
Don't have a clue what the writing says but a cute picture anyway
I'll give you points if you understand the title lol.
Well the newest Berryz Koubou PV is here. You can go see it, thanks to the good people over at H!O

Apparently, in this PV, the Berryz are working at a office. (Yes that means Berryz is reaching out to the salaryman demographic) and the girls are getting swamped with work and phone calls. So what do they do? Dance and sing and basically do everything but their job.
So let's review the dancing, Pretty typical for a Berryz video...until they got the "Bridge self-touching part". Honestly when I first saw that part, I laughed and got freaked out at the same time. But overall, the video gets a B+ from me. Not too bad but a little bit of a repetition of the past BK videos I've seen.
Recently I have been listening to Berryz 1st album "1st Cho Berryz" I like most of the songs on there but none of them stand out to me like track 6, "Semi" (which means "cicada") I have been addicted to this song lately and I have found it I has a PV

I have no idea where this PV came from but judging from the outfits, it's probably from the infamous Switch On tour.
I can't tell you which part is my favorite but I guess it's probably the chorus. I listened to it so much, I know almost all of it by heart. Also, I can't stop humming/whistling/singing it, which kind of annoys me lol. I think I should probably review the girls' voice.
Everyone's high notes were pretty squeaky, but oddly enough that was appropriate for this song. Their regular singing voices were good too but IMO they were a little bit shaky. But this is still my favorite non single song on this album.
You heard it right: Berryz Koubou is in Korea right now for the Asia Song Festival. They will perform and I think they also got a newcomer award. I wonder what they'll sing. I really hope they won't sing something old like Piriri to Yukou (my favorite BK song). They should sing something a bit more recent like (the wildly popular) Dschingis Khan or Monkey Dance. Anyway good luck in your Korea invasion, Berryz! Here's some pictures of Operation: Yuke Yuke.
I like the outfits they have on by the way. Very very colorful and sort of hippie-ish.
I wasn't going to post about this song because I really didn't feel like it. That was until, I saw this gem of a PV.

This has got to be the most genius and most random of every H!P PV ever made. If the dancing sheep weren't enough, you have the random alterations between the 1979 performance and Berryz performance.
Somewhere in heaven, Louis Hendrik Potgieter is rolling on the floor laughing along with Steve Bender. Also, if rickrolling (Look it up) gets replaced by a new video, I hope it's this one.
Recently I've been watching the first 3 Berryz Koubou PVs to find which of those three I like the best. I'm going to review all of them for you.
Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai - Berryz debut single. This was back when they had all 8 members. The PV was filmed in Saitama Super Arena (Where they would perform 3 years later, becoming the youngest group to perform there.) So they started off with a bang. The dance move were pretty nice. I heard that the dance moves were hard for the girls to learn. But the end result was awesome. I liked the fast motion/slow motion parts and the song itself is pretty good too.
Grade - A
Fighting Pose wa Date ja nai! - This song is pretty nice. It's generic H!P but something you can bob your head to. There's just one thing that bothers me. Risako's "Attack" is sorta creepy. Her voice went from normal to really deep in no time flat! Anyway the PV was pretty cute, with the girls showing off different outfits to see if they're "Celeb or not" Everyone gets rejected at least once until they finally get through. Their reward: A poolside hangout. Very nice PV.
Grade - B
Piriri to Yukou - As I said when I reviewed C-ute's version of this song, this is my favorite Berryz song. As soon as I first listened to it, I looked it up and got it. I've listened to it so much, I can't stop think about it. The PV is...ok. No scratch that. There is something wrong with almost everyone in this PV. Maa's hair looks like an anime character's (It's stick out on the ends. Just watch the closeups.) Chinami's really into the song, judging by her neck. It's intense lol. Momo, despite being my favorite member, has something wrong too. Her hair here makes her about a foot taller. Miyabi, looks like Anzai Manami (Fukuda Saki) from LIFE (She actually doesn't look a lot like her now than she did back then) Captain's only problem is that she's a midget. They barely get her head in the shot. As for Yurina, Risako (Wow that's a surprise), and Ishimura (I hardly ever call her Maiha), they have nothing wrong with them as far as I can see. This PV also gets points for being outside.
Grade - B
So that's my review of the first 3 Berryz singles. I'll be glad to listen your opinions on these three great PVs.
This is a landmark event in my H!P fandom. I just recieved my limited edition copy of C-ute's Edo no Temari Uta II and this is my first single that I actually bought instead of downloaded. I feel so happy to support H!P! Anyway the single comes with 8 interchangeable covers, one with each member and one with all the members. Guess which cover I'm using right now? I should review the songs while I'm sitting here listening to them.
1. Edo no Temari Uta II - Awesome song. It's also has historical value too. It mentions the Great Fire of Meireki (Also known as the Furisode Fire), which burned 60-70% of Edo (Tokyo) back in 1657. Back getting back to the present, the song has a nice sort of hip hop feel to it. Everyone gets a solo line, which made me very happy. But the PV costumes could be better though...
2. Wasuretakunai Natsu - Nice and summery. A pretty good c/w. It also has Tsunku engrish in it so that makes it a little bit better.
I've heard some news that made me pretty happy. Berryz Koubou will be performing at the Asia Song Festival in Korea. That means...international Berryz. I think this is their first performance outside of Japan so congrats Berryz.
